Villa La Nostalgie is a romantic traditional bastide for 8 persons with a private pool at the edge of the picturesque village of Saint-Jean-de-Minervois. This village is famous for its delicious Muscat wines. The detached house has a garden of 700m² and possesses a lot of charm thanks to its position and presentation.

Description
The total floor surface amounts to 110m². The maximum capacity is 8 people with the possibility of adding an extra cot or single bed.
Ground floor: The sitting room is furnished with a sofa, sleeping sofa, coffee table, antique piano, armchair, atmospheric lighting, chest of drawers, television, DVD player and stereo. The dining room has a working fire place and a view onto the terrace and is furnished with a large dining table, chairs, sofa, fauteuil, atmospheric lighting and cabinet. The dining room has an open connection with the kitchen via a few stone steps. The kitchen is fully equipped and also has a dish washer, coffee machine, electric kettle, blender, oven and microwave. From the kitchen there is direct access to the garage where you will find the washing machine and wood storage for the fire.
First floor: A bathroom entirely decorated in marble. The bathroom has a bath, toilet, bidet, and separate shower. The three bedrooms are also located on this floor. All three double bedrooms (of which one large one) have plenty of cupboard space and a sunny view of the garden and vineyards beyond. The bedrooms have an average of 15m².
The house has central heating. The fire place makes it extra attractive in the winter. The indoor garage offers space for one car, with a possibility to park several cars on the terrain.

Outside
The garden has two separate areas. First there is a secluded front garden with terrace,water well and BBQ terrace. The second area can be reached through a door. Here one finds a beautiful swimming pool measuring 10 X 5m in Roman style with walk in steps. The pool has underwater lighting and fountains along the sides, very spectacular at night. There is a possibility to close off the swimming pool for children. The pool is also equipped with an alarm system to prevent accidents round the pool. The atmosphere of the south comes across in the plants. The garden has Palm-, vig-, citrus-, laurel- olive- and almond trees. Wisteria, rosebushes, irises, cypresses, box, lavender, rosemary, oleander and bougainvilleas further enhance the feel of the south.
The garden is equipped with a swing for children, BBQ, and complete garden furniture including beds, tables, chairs, parasols and atmospheric lighting to make outdoor living a feast. The garden is surrounded by original stone walls which create ideal protection during the colder season.
An authentic house with a lot of privacy where you can really enjoy the French joie de vivre.

Surroundings
The quiet village of St. Jean de Minervois with its 150 inhabitants borders the famous vineyards on one side. Saint Jean de Minervois has its own cosy typically French restaurant located in the old school. On the other side lies the Parc Régional du Haut Languedoc, a beautiful vast protected nature reserve. The village has a good restaurant and four times a week a mobile grocery van comes by where you will be able to purchase your fresh ‘croissants and baguettes’. In the village of Saint Chinian (15 min by car) you will be able to purchase all your groceries with it's attractive bi-weekly market which locals and tourists alike can enjoy. Only a few steps from the house one can start lovely walks through the vineyards, and impressive gorges covered in green oak, thyme, box and other regional flora that will remain green throughout the year. No shortage of beautiful nature in this area. The Parc Régional du Haut Languedoc with its 180.000 acres of magnificent forest and 247 species of birds is a very diverse area offering heather fields, beech forests, plains and meadows. All these contrasts can be seen in the enormous dale of Monts de Lacaune on the plateau of Sidobre.
The hinterland has some wonderful wine regions like Saint Chinian, Faugéres, Minervois and the Corbiéres. A visit to a famous wine house is an absolute must. Narbonne at the Mediterranean with lovely sandy beaches is only 40 minutes drive away.
Visits to the fortresses and castles of the Cathars, Minerve, Roquebrun and the astonishing Carcassonne.



Activities
Outdoor horse rides in Pardailhan or Assignan. A visit to the cosy markets in Saint Pons, Béziers, Narbonne and Saint Chinian; the nine locks known as the ‘Neuf écluses de Fonséranese in the Canal du Midi near Béziers; Cap d’Agde (modern harbour and Aqualand) or Sète (lovely fishing village and oyster farms); African Sigean Safari Park just outside of Narbonne.
Renting bikes in Saint Chinian. Canoeing or Kayaking around Roquebrun. Walking / hiking in the Parc Regional du Haut-Languedoc, through the gorges d’Heric, on the Caroux for a magnificent view or round the mountain lake Saut de Vésoles.
